Course Description
This two-day comprehensive training course is designed specifically for tribal transportation professionals and road maintenance personnel responsible for maintaining and preserving pavement assets on tribal lands. The course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on experience in pavement preservation strategies, with a concentrated focus on crack sealing operations as a foundational and cost-effective pavement maintenance treatment.
Participants will learn to identify pavement distress types, select appropriate preservation treatments, and execute crack sealing operations in accordance with federal highway standards. The curriculum integrates guidance from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Pavement Preservation and Maintenance manuals, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) road maintenance regulations under 25 CFR Part 170, and industry standards published by ASTM International and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
